Anarkulova shines as Altay finish fifth

 

Sana Anarkulova scored 19 points to lead Altay Volleyball Club to a fifth place finish in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship

Shaoxing, China, December 9, 2018 – Altay Volleyball Club captain Sana Anarkulova sizzled with 19 points, helping the team record a 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-13) win over Volero Le Cannet in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.

Altay Volleyball Club finished in fifth place after a commendable performance from Anarkulova who had 14 spikes, two blocks and three aces, and Natalya Mammadova who tallied 16 spikes and a block.

Volero's top scorers were Angelina Lazarenko (11), Olena Hasanova (9) and Mira Todorova (9).


Natalya Mammadova had a big help from Sana Anarkulova in scoring and Silvija Popovic on defence to win in straight sets against Volero Le Cannet in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.

Altay mounted a significant lead at the start of the match after a string of errors hounded the opposing side. Mammadova and Anarkulov led the Altay offence, but Lazarenko and Todorova fought hard to reduce the lead for the French side. Volero succeeded to tie the score at 20-all from back-to-back blocks, but Altay emerged with a 26-24 win.

Altay led again in the second set, as Mammadova went on an unstoppable attack run to lead 16-9. Anarkulova joined her in scoring to secure the third set at 25-14.

The Kazakh club kept their momentum in the third set, Anarkulova leading the way for Altay with powerful swings. Altay concluded the set with a block 25-13.
