Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul to take on Minas Tenis Clube in semifinals


Shaoxing, China, December 7, 2018 - Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul will take on Minas Tenis Clube in the first semifinal of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship on Saturday.

·    Eczacibasi VitrA will face debutants Minas Tenis Clube for the first time at the Club World Championship.
·    Eczacibasi VitrA have won all three matches against Brazil opposition at the Club World Championship, including 3-1 against Praia Clube at this year's tournament.
·    Coming into this year's semifinals, Brazilian teams have lost all of their 11 encounters Turkish sides at the Club World Championship, including the two matches in 2018.

Eczacibasi VitrA

·    Two-time champions Eczacibasi VitrA have won all three matches at this Club World Championship.
·    Eczacibasi can win their first four matches of a Club World Championship campaign for the second time, after 2016 when they won all five matches.
·    Eczacibasi won their first two semifinals, in 2015 and 2016, but they lost the semifinal to VakifBank in 2017.
·    Tijana Boškovic (54) and Jordan Larson (45) have scored 99 points between them for Eczacibasi at this club world championship.
·    Gamze Alikaya has registered seven serve aces.

Minas Tenis Clube
·    Minas Tenis Clube have reached the semifinals on their debut.
·    Minas Tenis Clube and Praia Clube and have both reached the semifinals of the Club World Championship this year on their debut. All nine Brazilian teams at the Club World Championship have now reached the semifinals or final in their debut campaign. Sadia Esporte Club and Colgate Sao Cateano played the final in 1991 following the preliminary phase.
·    Minas Tenis Clube can win three matches at the Club World Championship. Their men's team lost all three matches when they competed in the tournament in 2016.
·    Gabriela Braga Guimaraes is the team's top scorer on 50 points. Last year she scored 65 points for Sesc RJ Vôlei.
·    As setter, Macris Carneira has registered an average of seven per set.
