Shaoxing, China, December 4, 2018 – Brazil’s Praia Clube opened the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship with a 3-0 win over Thailand’s Supreme Chonburi at the Shaoxing Olympic Sports Centre on Tuesday.

Praia Clube coach Paulo Barros Junior: “It was a good win. We started a little bit nervous in the first set because we are not familiar with our opponent, but when we managed to win that then it became easier for us to win the next two sets. We had good reception and a good offensive system.”

Praia Clube captain Fabiana Claudino: “It was good start. The first match is always difficult but the team showed good volleyball. We played well tactically which helped our attackers to be in good position.”

Supreme Chonburi coach Nataphon Srisamutnak
: “We didn’t have our first setter (Soraya Phomla) today and she was the missing link in this match. I hope she can play in the next match because she’s very valuable to our system. Hopefully she can return so that we can play better tomorrow.”

Supreme Chonburi captain Wilavan Apinyapong: “It’s really good for our team to play this kind of match to give our young players experience. We tried to play every point but they are very strong. I still feel good about this game because we will gain a lot of experience.”
