Lavarini: Second set win gave us great power into the game

Minas Tenis Clube coach Stefano Lavarini steers the team to a dream finals debut in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship

Shaoxing, China, December 8, 2018 – Minas Tenis Clube coach Stefano Lavarini said their second set win was key to victory in their semifinal match against Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.

Minas Tenis Clube coach Stefano Lavarini: “We played a really good match. It was different than what we expected. At the beginning they were better than us in passing and attacking tactically.

“In the first two sets we were worried, and at the same time we were losing. But then we were lucky and then we played better. Winning that last part in the second set gave us great power into the game and to trust in our capabilities.”

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul coach Marco Aurelio Motta: “We had good moments in the match, but they played better in block and defence. We had good moments. They played more stable and deserved the victory.”

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul captain Jordan Larson: “They deserved the victory because they dug more balls than us and they won the game in transition. We will come back stronger tomorrow.”

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul player Kim Yeon Koung: “We are upset because we came here to win the championship. Our opponents played block and defence really well.”
