Panchenko: "My team played better each day"

Altay Volleyball Club coach Iurii Panchenko steered his team to a fifth place finish in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship

Shaoxing, China, December 9, 2018 – Altay Volleyball Club coach Iurii Panchenko was pleased with the improvement in the performance of his team in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.

Altay Volleyball Club coach Iurii Panchenko: "We played on a high level and won our final match in this very important competition. My team played better and better each day and we won today. This victory is very important for us. There are things that need improvement, but today, we just want to enjoy the win."

Altay Volleyball Club player Matea Ikic: "We played well in putting pressure against our opponents. We had good reception. It was an important win because they played with a fast tempo, so we are glad that we won against them. We had lots of ups and downs, so we should work more on our block and reception."

Volero Le Cannet coach Avital Selinger: "This match was very difficult for us. All team members worked hard. It was difficult to find the balance in the game because our young players have some injuries. Unfortunately, we were not able to play our best. However, it's really a good experience that our players played on a high level. We gained a lot of experience. Most of our young players have never been in such a big event like this. They never flew to Asia to play different styles of volleyball - European, Brazilian or Asian volleyball."

Volero Le Cannet captain Laura Unternahrer: "We know that we are a new and young team, so there are a lot of things we need to learn. Being able to play in this tournament is amazing. There is nothing to lose because we learned every day. It's an honour to be here and play against so many strong teams."
