Praia Clube play Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul for top spot in Pool B

 

Shaoxing, China, December 5, 2018 - Praia Clube of Brazil and Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul meet on Friday to decide which team top Pool B in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.

Head-to-Head

·    Praia Clube and Eczacibasi VitrA meet for the first time at the Club World Championship.
·    Eczacibasi have won their previous two Club World Championship meetings with teams from Brazil. They defeated Sesc-RJ 3-2 in the 2016 group stage and Osasco 3-1 in the 2017 group stage.
·    Turkish teams are unbeaten against Brazilian teams at the Club World Championship (9 matches). NOTE: VakifBank Istanbul and Minas Tenis Clube also play on 7 December.
·    Praia Clube and Eczacibasi VitrA have already qualified for the semifinals, as both sides won their first two matches at the 2018 Club World Championship in straight sets.

Praia Clube
·    Club World Championship debutants Praia Clube have won both their opening matches in straight sets, against Supreme Chonburi on Tuesday and versus Altay Volleyball Club on Wednesday.
·    Praia Clube could become the fifth debutants to claim three straight-set victories in their first three Club World Championship matches, after Sadia Esporte Club Sao Paulo (1991), Leite Moca Sao Paulo (1994),Fenerbahçe (2010) and VakifBank Istanbul (2011).Of those four clubs, only VakifBank Istanbul failed to claim the trophy on their debut.
·    Nicole Fawcett scored a match-high 19 points against Altay Volleyball Club, including 18 spikes.
·    In Praia Clube's opening two matches, Carli Lloyd (6) scored most points from blocks, while Fernanda Rodrigues (5) scored most points from serves.

Eczacibasi VitrA
·    Two-time champions Eczacibasi VitrA have won their opening two matches both in straight sets, against Altay Volleyball Club on Tuesday and versus Supreme Chonburi on Wednesday.
·    Eczacibasi can win their first three matches of a Club World Championship campaign for the second time, after their 2016 winning campaign.
·    Eczacibasi could become the first Turkish side to win three successive matches in straight sets at a single Club World Championship, since VakifBank in 2011.
·    Tijana Boškovic scored a match-high 16 points against Supreme Chonburi: 12 spikes, two blocks, two aces.
·    Boškovic has now been Eczacibasi's top scorer in each of their last seven Club World Championship matches (2 in 2018 and all 5 in 2017).
