Reigning champions VakifBank face Minas in Club World Championship finale

 

VakifBank Istanbul are back in the finals of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship after their 3-1 win over Praia Clube

Shaoxing, China, December 8, 2018 - Reigning champions VakifBank Istanbul and debutants Minas Tenis Clube secured wins in the semifinals of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship to set up a Turkish and Brazilian club final encounter for the fourth time.

Sunday's matches in Shaoxing:





Minas prevailed in their 3-2 (22-25, 26-24, 25-13, 23-25, 15-12) encounter with former world champions Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul, while VakifBank defeated Brazil's Praia Clube 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18) in the exciting semifinal round.

Altay Volleyball Club and Volero Le Cannet recorded their first victories and get the chance to play for fifth place in the tournament. Altay recorded a 3-2 (25-14, 18-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9) win over Zhejiang Women's Volleyball Club, while Volero beat Supreme Chonburi 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21).


Minas Tenis Clube were down in the first set, but recovered to win their match against Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul in five sets in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.

Saturday highlights:
• VakifBank Istanbul will face Minas Tenis Clube for the second time, after their match in Pool A of the preliminary round
• VakifBank Istanbul won that encounter in straight sets.
• Minas Tenis Clube outside hitter Natalia Perreira was Saturday's top scorer with 31 points.
• Tijana Boskovic of Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul leads the tournament scoring after four days with 81 points, four more than Zhu Ting of VakifBank Istanbul and 11 more than Liu Yanhan of Zhejiang Women's Volleyball Club
